Wealth Hazards

To do-it-yourself or not to do-it-yourself may be the most important question that you should ask yourself when it comes to managing your personal taxes.  The Internal Revenue Code is 16,845 pages long and contains some of the most challenging and important information that we ever deal with, yet we give it so little thought.  There are 112 million U.S. taxpayers and 51.8 million of them received some form of assistance preparing their tax returns.  Another 22 million taxpayers used an electronic service, either online or a software package like TurboTax.  This means that 38.2 million taxpayers sat down with a pencil, some paper, a calculator, and a stack of forms and completed their personal tax return on their own without help.
